Thermal Imager Strap (Nylon)
Fire Service Thermal Imaging Cameras have improved vastly over the years. Unfortunately, the way we carry them has not. From retractable lanyards that are prone to breakage and tend to position the camera where it is in the way more often than not, to repurposing flashlight and radio straps that don't quite get the job done. Years of in the field usage and experimenting, plus insight from experts in the field of thermal imagers has led to the design of my dedicated Thermal Imager Strap. It is robust, utilizing all metal hardware, and Mil-spec nylon webbing for the entirety of the strap. Length adjustment is on the back side of this strap so it will not interfere with the usage of the camera. Overall length with webbing section fully extended adjusts from 60" to 76", and the front webbing section adds another 18" of adjustability, so it will fit under or over the SCBA. Where functionality comes in is the webbing section in the front with a heavy duty free floating clip to attach the camera to. This allows the camera to hang at your hip, keeping it out of the way and lower in the the thermal environment to help prevent moisture and smoke build up on the lens and screen. The free floating attachment allows the camera to be quickly raised into viewing range then dropped back down again. Strap features a quick adjust adjust feature to allow the camera to be cinched down tight to the body if needed for a particular operation. Also features a quick detach buckle to reduce entanglement hazards. A hand stamped brass ID tag can be added.
